Iggies In Baltimore Closed For 10 Days

As an FYI, Iggies, winner of the City Paper’s 2006 Best of Baltimore award for Pizza and the purveyor of high quality thin crust style (not Neapolitan) pizzas located up the block from Centerstage on Calvert Street, is closed from Sunday, June 28th to Tuesday, July 7th in order for the owners to take a much deserved vacation.

If you didn’t know, Iggies is a pizza establishment where the owners are there virtually every single day manning the oven and making sure everything is running smoothly.  Linda, I hope you and yours have a fantastic vacation….Baltimore will be waiting to have a bite when you return!

    My just went to Iggies and they wanted our six person party to squeeze in between two others parties at a communal table. They are unbelievably rude and uptight about where people sit. My advise to them is get a hostess and servers if you want to control where people can and can not sit.

    There is a sign that says don’t talk to the pizza man he is mean…this is not a joke! He is miserable and nasty. It is very evident that the staff at Iggies is unhappy; I guess that is why they don’t treat their patrons with respect. Joe Squared is amazing…better pizza, better atmosphere!

    Horrible Experience
    Iggies has ok pizza, very high prices, and very rude staff. They attempt to have a casual atmosphere, but they are amazingly uptight about where you can and can’t sit. After being told that my party was not allowed to move any tables so we could sit together, we were told to go elsewhere by the cook after he suspected us of moving tables while we stood in the dining room and discussed what we wanted to do. We informed the owner of the cook’s rude behavior and she did not care at all to rectify the situation. We had amazing pizza, atmosphere and service at nearby Joe Squared.

  • John, sounds like you were with “EAS” when you went to Iggie’s. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

    Not defending anyone or saying one place is better than the other, but to be fair and to mitigate any potential shilling, Iggies “very high prices” are in fact less expensive than Joe Squared. Comparable pizzas:

    14″ Margherita; $15.50 @ Iggies/ $19 @ Joe squared.
    14″ Quattro Formaggi; $13.95 @ Iggies / $20 at Joe Squared.

    Althougth it may apear that Joe2 is higher priced from the menu, they serve square pizzas with more surface area. Thus actualy being less expensive per inch.
    14″ Margherita=((14/2)^2)pi=153.94 inches at iggies vs 14^2=196 inches at Joe2; $15.50-> $0.101 per inch @ Iggies/ $19-> $0.096 per inch @ Joe squared.
