A couple of days before the 4th of July, the initial Slicecapades! journey cast off from Baltimore. In the end, Fourth of July related traffic would snarl my adventure and put the kabash on several planned stops. I’m upset with missing out on these stops and wanted tasting fatigue to be the deciding factor on when the day would end, but I did the best I could given the wretched stop-and-go traffic I had to muck through. While this pizza may still be a ways off from good everyday New York pizza from the likes of Vinny Vincenz, Bleeker Street Pizza or Joe’s, among others, the New York Style pizza at Squisito is a lot closer to the mark than many of the Maryland pizzerias offering this style of pizza. The cheese is not the cheaper type that will burn the roof of your mouth when eaten and it has a pleasing saltiness to it….not too much, but enough to make its presence felt.
